NYC’s Anne Steele Releases “What’s Mine”

Anne Steele is best described as a “multi-award winning NYC pop queen.” Right off the bat I was intrigued. Her new record What’s Mine is 6 songs of high energy dance music, with a dose of LGBT influence. Her music is quirky, vibrant, and fun, and calls upon influences such as Kelly Clarkson, P!nk, and Jesse J. Capturing imaginations and dance floors Steele makes sure her music delivers a message. Her music is not only uplifting, but it touches upon subjects of supporting gay rights. It entices and educates at the same time, creating the ultimate double threat.

The title track “What’s Mine” is the perfect start to the record. Laced with strong vocals, vibrant piano and quirky handclaps, we’re off to a good start right from the beginning. Standout tracks on the EP include the heartbreaking “Without You Tonight,” which offers synth-bliss, and the sub-dued yet powerful, “Shadow of You.” Throughout, the songs kept building my interesting, making it a wonderful collection of songs.

Getting her start as a Cabaret singer, which definitely shines through with her performance in this record, Steele has gained a number of prestigious awards and accolades. What’s Mine is a touching and heartfelt EP, which not only uplifts, but provokes thoughts on serious issues. Her talent for writing these phenomenal songs, proves that she isn’t just another pop singer; she is so much more. What’s Mine is out now via  Bandcamp. Check out the link below!

Liz Graham Releases “Damaged” Single

a1042428201_10

A little while ago I had fell head over heels for Liz Graham and her glorious brand of folk infused rock. Recently, Graham has released her new single, “Damaged,” from her upcoming sophomore release due out this year. With twinges of adult contemporary style laced throughout, Graham creates music for the masses. A rather accomplished musician, she has sold over 100,000 records to date, played at Lilith Fair, charted on CMJ, and has shined on Women’s radio and beyond. For fans of artists such as Ryan Adams, Ingrid Michaelson and Sarah McLachlan, Liz Graham will peak your interest.

“Damaged” is  a beautifully written song that is about having an epiphany; letting you see your life clearly. Not being able to control your past, but forging ahead to the future and creating your own destiny. Graham’s voice flows effortlessly through the track, creating a piece that is not only enchanting, but one that stands out. Her talent for songwriting is brought to life within this track, as each instrument is in just the right place. Her voice is heavenly, but stands out; shining bright. If her upcoming release is anything like her two new singles, then we are certainly in for a treat.

The True Groove All- Stars Release “Fully Re-Covered”

tg

The True Groove All- Stars are ready to release their new record, Fully Re-Covered, the sophomore release for the group. Taking on what the band refers to as a modern anthem, they transform their songs to reflect human solidarity. The follow-up to their successful remix debut, Funky World, the latest album brings 13 tracks to life, capturing the mid-70s, early 80s, and a dose of reggae in between. Fully Re-Covered is set for release on March 31, 2015.

Currently, the group is sharing the album’s first single, “Hit Me With Your Rhythm Stick (feat. Marla Mase and James Chance),” which perfectly kicks off the collection of songs.  The range of songs on the record is phenomenal and at times a bit surprising…in a good way. Standout pieces on the record include Heather Powell’s version of “Relax” (Frankie Goes to Hollywood), as she seduces with an R&B infused sound. Newcomer Lael Summer calls for Califoria with “Wires,” originally from The Neighborhood, putting her own special brand of Soul into the track. One of my most absolute favorites though is Samuel Claiborne’s Johnny Cash via Nine Inch Nails cover of “Hurt”; somehow giving it more depth than the NIN and Cash versions. That is an accomplishment in its own right. Fully Re-Covered accesses an array of genres and classic songs, new and old. Each artist on the record offers something intriguing and different, that will leave you wanting more.

buffalorodeo1

Buffalo Rodeo’s new EP, 123 Water (Jeffery Drag Records), dances a line between classical ethereal sounds reminiscent of 70’s bands like Pink Floyd and Fleetwood Mac and modern psychedelic variations like Mac Demarco and Tame Impala. A considerable maturation from their 2013 release, Home VideosBuffalo Rodeo strives to combine tight rhythms and ambient melodies with expressive vocal harmonies on their newest release. The group have just premiered their new single, “Blue Sky” via Huffington Post.

Formed around 2008 in a music-thirsty gulch of the hills of Bowling Green, KY around the likes of Cage the Elephant, Sleeper/Agent, and Morning Teleportation, Buffalo Rodeo has worked tirelessly as an independent band securing shows at festivals such as The Big To-Do Festival, Starry Nights Music & Arts Festival, and Riot Fest, as well as booking tours in around 25 states in 2013 alone.

Comprised of original members Nate Davis (guitar), Zach Preston (vocals), and Ryan Gilbert (drums),Buffalo Rodeo added Jordan Reynolds (keys, vocals) in 2012 along with Patrick Duncan (bass) and Kevin Creambus (van) the following year to result in a road-hungry combination ready to bring vibrations to all the right eardrums.

Buffalo Rodeo also enjoys tossing a Frisbee in alleyways, kicking volleyballs onto rooftops, Taco Bell (out of necessity), driving long stretches of vast nothingness in the American Midwest (necessity, again), sleeping on couches, cramming in vans, Nawlin’s voodoo, and meeting friendly folks all across the country.
